Default My Fish is listing to the left

My poor fish is listing to the left. He has a balancing problem. Happened overnight. His right fin is working overtime to compensate. Also his tail fins are tattered at the ends. I clean the water once a week and am now medicating him with black water. What is wrong with him and what can I do? any ideas?

you over fed him? MAYBE swim bladder disorder??? if the cause is by overfeeding, green pea will help, anyway wat happen to the tail fins? look out for fungal, like fin or tail rot. an advice for you, it depend in the size of jar or tank which you keep ur betta, the smaller it is, the more frequent you need to do a water change, partial water change is good enough, and dun use water which is not treated with anti chlorine and chlomine, this will do harm in long term.

HI!

Hey thanks for replying... OK I am new at this... The possible problems as you listed:
Overfeeding - Not a chance... Very careful about that. So is green pea for the overfeeding problem?
Bladder disorder - if this is it what can I do?
Water Change - Tom Yum's tank (that's his name) is approx. 4.0ltr. I change it (70%) every 5 days. I treat it with anti chlorine (with something I bought from the petshop - Bottled in Johor with pink label)
Tail rot - What shall I do there? Am treating hm with blackwater (thats what the aquarium guy recommended).

Seems then that maybe the tail rot and the listing to the left are separate issues. Tha tail seems to be getting better. But he still lists to the left.

green pea can help for overfeeding problem! i had tried it personally
symptoms of swim bladder disorder....
Either floats uncontrollably to the top of the tank, or sinks to the bottom.
Seems to struggle greatly while swimming, and often will swim at an unusual angle.
May or may not have a "kinked" spine, often in the shape of an "S" when viewed from above.
May lie around, barely moving except when a mad dash is made to the surface for air.
May or may not have a swollen belly, often caused by constipation
Is the stomach of the fish swollen? have the fish been eating as per normal or behaving like normal?
observe the tail, if its getting better, should be alright to continue with ur treatment.

YES YES ! A kink in the spine! Yes. He has that!

constipation? Dunno. eats ok.

He does not float upside down or sink. But the kink in the spine. Yes... So green pea? What do I do with the green pea? Can I buy it from a pet shop Or is this your own recipe?

Thanks so much for this. Really apprecaite it and really am worried for the poor thing.

Swim Bladder Disorder is almost always caused by overfeeding or constipation. you can buy in a pac at any supermarket, boil it, deshell and let ur betta consume (cut into bite size) , if he refuse to eat, try starving him for a day or two, by den he will eat. ya, dun left the uneaten food in the tank, scoop it up. Hope this will help, cheers!

Hey. The green pea just falls to the bottom of the tank. I did starve him for a day as well. so the pea pieces sank and he did not see it I guess. laso I noticed some white colouration on the bottom of his face.
