How did you know that the female is a plakat? Females (long-finned lines) are often difficult to differentiate from females (short-finned lines).

Yes short tail are reccessive, hence an occassional plakat will pop out every now and then from HM spawns.

Theoretically, if you use long-finned parents, all your fries should be long-finned. However, some of the fries may be runts and occasionally, you might have a runt with short tails.

The other big unknown factor is the female. How do you know it carries long-finned genes if you use a female from unknown lines?
