To all Arowana experts, please help by letting me know what type of Arowana this is and do give me your comments on this particular fish. I am totally blur [dr]with aros. The fish is about 18" in size. What is the conservative worth of this fish (I mean that someone would be really willing to pay). Thanks

Sorry Phil, not an expert but I know what I like. I don't like the shape. Should be more elongated.

Ok, I really know nothing about Aro, myself ernest, so is that one of the criteria ?

Jonathan, actually I really don't know, because I have been watching people quoting $3,000 to $5,000 for about the same size, but no one seems to be buying them. yet people are willing to spend some $2,000 plus for small ones, although color is not developed. I do find that ironical. Thanks anyway.

its the photos to be frank. I feel the photos were not well taken, should have some lights overhead to show the true colors of the fish.
Phil theres a number of reasons to your questions. For example buying a dog. Why do some people want to buy a puppy instead of a healthy adult dog and risk the future genetic problems of the species? Its the same reasons for some people preferring to get a young arowana than a developed adults -> Many arowana lovers prefer to see the process of their fishes growing and developing, and from there develop a closer relationship with the fish and also gamble to see if a juvenile will grow into a beautiful adult.
If i have the money, i will definitely pay more for a juvenile cross back than an adult super red. The problem is, i dont have the money [bh]

well, you should have a pic with flash and a pic with no flash.
This looks like a gold to me, good condition, no defects
For this, 18 incher could fetch quite alot. Like 3K to 5K...
Ernest, that pic you show is not a very good cross back... i've seen very good ones

Will someone really pay 24K for the fish? Reminds me of the LH when they first hit the market with all their absurd pricing. I don't know, maybe we could price our bettas at say 25K, when we don't want to sell it too.:D

haha..i think onli the foreigners like say the japs or rich indonesians are willing to pay such hefty prices..as small fish are hard to come by in their country..they wouldnt mind getting adult fish..
but there are also alot of pple wanting to buy adult aros.just take a look at the sat classifieds.. alot of offers for adult aros-be it healthy or defective.. maybe u can try enquiring there ;>
