These critters are good in that, unless they die off, they will swim in your fry tank until they end up in the stomach of your fishes. Your fries get a constant food supply in their critical 1st 2 weeks. These makes them very good when one is away for a short period. I simply flood my fry tanks with daphnias, enough to last them till I get back. A little aeration and sunshine and old water in the outdoors even seem to encourage reproduction in the daphnias. newly hatched daphnias are said to be smaller than an adult rotifer. Of cos, for this method to work best, u need a reasonably large volume of water and fewer fishes.

U r right ... they make good food ... but if you have too many fries in the tank ... your tank-ful of daphnias just disappear over-nite.

Cannot ... imagine 1000 fies in 1 ft tank and you want to stock up enough food for all?
They will be literally swimming in daphnias then ... <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Luckily din travel much recently ... else my fish sure die one.

of cos u cant pack your fry tank like a morning MRT!
I do not put teh daphnias straight in, but let them swim for 5 mins in dechlorinated water, they too can be just as dirty as tubifex.

that is a good idea.
But now I have constant supply of daphnia ... they just reproduce in my outdoor tank in large quantity. Yipeee ... :)
