alamak Ronnie first few pics veli blurr leh...see no have ah!
Colour wise all the blues seem to have a grey edge, esp teh caudal. Caudal shape wise think generally the ingredients are there in the line, most able to spring-open their tails, except that I think one of the blue n green had roundish corners on teh caudal. need to sharpen the definition of the 'D' shape.
Ooi....think u need to paste a sharper picture. Think Derrick also see no have....kekeke

Yes, I think in order for us to comment on the fish, it's important to have a more close up view and clearer picture as well as proper exposure (in this case it's ok to use software to adjust it so that it's as close to the real fish as possible). I do understand it's difficult for most of us to take a good picture of the fish, but I think it's the only way for us to comment on it via the internet.

Let me illustrate to you as in Ronnie's first picture;
http://www.bettaclub.org.sg/forum/uploaded/ronnie%20lau/200343022277_r-bhm1.jpg
To take a better fish picture, one has to do a close up on macro mode as close as possible. As for Ronnie's picture, the fish is under exposed too much, so not much can be done to correct it.
Due to the under exposure, after some correction there will be much loss in pixel as you can see. This is what I think a much better close up view (same picture of the above Ronnie's fish but after cropping and adjustment);

For me it's Adobe Photoshope, but there are many others too. Not sure about Thomas. Maybe not sidetrack too much hehe.
But still would highlight to pointout the following;
If you are using a digital camera, you will need to brighten up the picture a bit using these sofware as it will usually be underexposed as most of us do not have proper lighting facility. I usually used to portable table lamp (white tube types) to light up the fish.
Remember to use macro mode (best if your camera has a macro distance of at least 4cm), and go as near as possible to the fish. Do a half press on the shutter realease to focus it before pressing it fully. But this is for most camera, you may need to check your own camera if it's the same.

I prefer this blue over the rest because of its overall proportion. However you will need to work on getting rid of the red wash.http://www.bettaclub.org.sg/forum/uploaded/ronnie%20lau/2003430222740_r-bhm2.jpg

For me, I just used Macromedia Fireworks because I couldn't find my photoshop CD. What I did was to adjust the colour curves.
Bascially, if there is a lack of lighting on the subject, adjust your camera's white balance. You should see the picture light up almost perfectly. For me, I'm using a Sony P9. I would suggest using a more focused light source when taking macro pictures, though you must be careful of the reflection on the tank. (Top down lighting slightly in front of the subject is best.)
I don't think I'm qualified to conduct any trainings though :P mostly I just fiddle with the settings till I get the desired effect :P

Just like to reinforce what Phil had earlier mentioned - proportion. There should be a smooth transition between dorsal, caudal and anal fin, a smooth circle. Can refer to this website (I personally subscribe to Dan Young's version): http://ibcbettas.org/HMDrawing.htm . You need to continue to work on this.

cant fit a fish into a geometric cricle. Think the fish itself is fine as pictured. I am also going for that kinda form. There arent many in each spawn...I must say and is something worth striving to achieve in your line.

One more thing to achieve for blues, getting the blue colour into the face.
