Q: What should I do if the pair has been in the tank for a few days, but has not yet spawned?
A: This may occur for several reasons. One of which is that the pair is not ready to spawn yet. Another reason may be due to the conditions that they are in not being suitable for spawning.
Should the pair not spawn within 2-4 days, remove the pair and recondition the pair for another week or two before placing them together to attempt spawning again. Another way is to replace either the female or male, and see if the new pairing will work out. This may help sometimes, as the previous pair may have included an infertile fish, or an immature one.
