Q: Can I place plants or any other objects into the spawning tank, or should I leave it bare?
A: Try to avoid placing too many things into the tank, as it will clutter up the ground, and cause confusion to the pair when they try to pick up the eggs. One of the main things to avoid is placing gravel in the tank, as the pair may have trouble picking up eggs that fall between and into the gravel.
Plants are sometimes used so that the female can have some form of cover should the male decide to constantly pursue the female. However, for the same reason stated above, try to avoid placing too many plants into the tank.
