I have 3 bettas in total. 2 hm and 1 hmpk... my 2 hm suffer massive finnage damage. not so sure y only the caudal fin is damage. if i want to say water problem, i age my water for 2 days min, add seachem prime, aqua salt, katapang leaves. i still can get whats wrong with it.

what is the size of ur tank for the hm?
btw< rmb to under-dose the amount of salt plus water conditioner, might be over dosage

Bro might be tail biting ,some hm bite their tails
,some says it is due to stress ,even in a tank

The tank im using is a half gallon tank... the marina kit tank..
as for the water aging, i aged the water inside a plastic container which consist of 8L of water. i add 1 tablespoon of Aqua salt (Ocean Free), about 1.5ml seachem prime...

i dont think anyone can explain tail biting,even in a big big tank......

Sometime too big tank they will feel insecure too. Thus cause stress to them.
