Is it a good idea?
If not, why not?
If yes, what are the plants you would advise using?
Maybe I can start off. I am of the opinion that usless someone can recommend a plant that would not under any circumstance result in torn fins and such, I would strongly not recommend using any plants for the tanks which house your best show male bettas.
I use moss (have at least 2 types but I don't know if either of them are java moss) in the community tank for the females. They help to reduce the level of harmful nitrates in the tank = less water changes. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
