Nice fishes being flushed down the drain what doing water change.
It happens sometime for me when I am doing water change when the phone ring ... take the call then forgotten that there is still a fish left in the pail of dirty water.
So pour the whole pail away loh =(

my melano from ahsan x steel female spawn was 1 month old. I was still new to bettas then, saw fishes had this white white spots on body, i tot was some fatal disease, poured whole spawn of over 200 1month old fries away. then i knew it was white spots and a heater will do the job

My own Boo Boo happened when I was jarring fry at 7 over p.m.(not enough light), accidently put two in the same jar, there goes the good finnage... haiz!

Happened over the weekend ... again ... fish missing in action ... must have poured the water away with a prize yellow female. *Sigh*

Haha, have met with 2 boo-boos in as many weeks of me restarting my betta hobby!:D

Boo-boo No.1

After having shown the female to the male for couple of days, I put the female into the male's side of the tank. When they were about to spawn, I saw, horror of horrors, the male had velvet all over. At this pt of time, I put the female back in her half and switch the heater to 32 degrees C.

The female then decided to drop her eggs. Thinking that she'll eat them up like my previous females, I ignored her. Unfortunately, I saw her with slime all over her and the fins clamped, staying near the water surface! The eggs had deomposed and with the increased in temp, encourage the bacteria to proliferate.

Thank God afte treating her for a few days with the Jap yellow powder, she recovered and so did the male.

Boo-boo No.2

After giving them good food for another 4 days, I thought they were ready to have another go.

Indeed, they did spawn after being re-introduced for a day. The male was deligently guarding the eggs thereafter, and I thought this should be ok.

Again, disaster struck the next day, when i discovered that I had forgotten to remove the plastic partition which was placed in earlier, and most the eggs had drifted to the other side of the tank where the male couldn't retrieve, and they died and fungicised.

However, the good news is that I'm still able to salvage about 30 odd frys, and now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'd grow up fine.

A very recent Boo-Boo ...

Project A: Orange Black Male (From Maran) X Ornagbe Black Female? (From Straits)

The so called female was purchased from Straits together with other females. So happily put about 4 pairs to spawn that very afternoon. Next day, the orange black pair was working very very very hard and the Maran's male was trying so hard to squeeze some eggs from the "female" which was bought from Straits .... mann ... I was still looking at time for quite some time before I realised that "she" is actually a male ...

But the bapok "she" actually allows another male to wrap her ... this is one thing that I can never understand.

The "she" is now spawning with a true female ... :)
