What about good clear soup?
I personally know of Lei Gardens at Chijmes, but their prices are a little steep.

I was actually asking for Chinese clear soup. Steam fish got good or bad one meh? I thought that all the seafood restaurants (which you can go with your singlet and slippers) serve good steamed fish? Although they are not cheap....but basically, steam fish is the best when the fish is the freshest.

Makansutra lah ! Now my tummy beating drum again liao.
Best place I always enjoy a nice Friday evening after long pressure cooking week is Chinatown market ! Clay pot rice with "Lao Huang Gua" soup. Then follow with a cup of hot chinese gingseng n chrysanthemum drink. Traditional.
For Soup, I like the Maxwell Market one. I do remembered there is a stall at Ghim Moh specialise in soup also.

haha of coz they need to be fresh, but how to chef controls the heat and cooking time is very vital. Over cooked and the texture of the fish feels like chicken. I love steamfish with chai po.

Steam fish .. go China Town Hawker center ... got one Teochew store own by old Teochew couple.
