Recording from tapes to VCD

Chris or anyone,
I would like to know how I can 'transfer' what recorded from my Handycam which is recorded in tapes into say....a more deurable form of medium...like VCD.

Do I need to like playback the HAndycam on the TV and then simultaneously recording into a recordable VCD player?

Not so sure about doing it that way using the recordable VCD player. There are many shops (photoshop) or the one in Sim Lim Square that do such services. If your pc has got that analog to digital card, you can do it too. But if it's one time off thing, best to get the shop to do it. Think they charge by hours of the tape.
