Hi All,
In most spawns that involves marbles or pastels, I have observed a large percentage of cellophanes being produced.
Despite very clean and beautiful, they have not been valued by most breeder. In fact for myself, I always then to cull them more often than other colours.
My question is what is their genetics?
Are they void of all colour gene? Are such traits recessive?
Will breeding of 2 cellophanes throw out all cellophanes???

I am not sure but this is what I think. I also culled the cello marble genos as what I wanted were dark marble genos in one spawn.
Cellos I believe[stand to be corrected]are basically cambodians without any other colour, hence fins clear and body flesh colour. As we usually notice, CAmd genes are recessive[ eg pastel x pastel = all pastels]. Hence cello x cello shld = all cellos. agree? <img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hmmm ... duuno about the cambodian part ... but definitely agree that cello and cello should give all cello although sometimes should still be able to thrown out some marbles or pastels. But have never tried such a cross before because I wasn't hopeful that such spawns will give me any good fish. =)
Btw ... Black laces spawns will throw out all black laces right?
I have a black lace male that I got from my recent marble spawn (PS: A lot of dark genes in those marbles), I am looking for a matching female with good finnage. Do you know where I can find one? Any good match can you suggest for such attempts?

Hi Sam,
As for cellophanes, here is the link to your question;

It's under Bettasgeneticarchives forum. Rather complicated answers and interesting to read, lol!
Marble genes is not something that most hobbyist like here locally. But I like it!

Hi Chris,
You are the man mann ... always got the right link to the right question. :)
As for marbles ... I like them too ... but they can be very un-predictable and it really is an acquired taste. There was once that I sold the whole batch of marbles to a LFS ... the response from the customers are ... "Wah Lao ... why so ugly one!!" =P
Reason because they have lots of black that do not appeal to most pple ... sometimes even myself. Anyway ... was sold to them at very cheap price. =( so "Bo Pian"
