Did you guys read the latest news on " Bukit Panjang residents help keep Aedes mosquitoes at bay " ?
" ... 500 Ovitraps, which have been deployed in some 100 blocks and car parks around the estate." just imagine 200 wiggling worms each trap collected .... great juicy meal.
Maybe ask the residents to provide us with fresh clean larves weekly. Now we have "legalised" breeding ground.

It's kinda like a black round container about palm size. The top is not cover but there is a removeable metal mess which only allow the eggs to sink or the young larves to trap below the mess. Larger size of larves will be trap and not allow to squeeze out. Every week, the "volunteers" will remove the metal mess and pour out the water together with larves and kill them with chemicals.

I am making 1 using metal cup with pretty straight side. Was thinking of a coke bottle. The float is a strylofoam cut to the diameter of the inner side of cup just slightly smaller so that it will float freely from evaporation of water. I don't know how fine are the wire mess, so just normal fish net.
Anyway, don't have that paddles. Just see will it work.
I using t.worms water ... sure stinko enough. hahahaha.

I think it depends on what water you put into the ovitraps.

Gin Yew, I constantly got larvae swimming in my plant pot base outside my flat. Just water from my betta tanks collected during water change. As long as stagnant water, somehow these mosquitoes will be back.
Cannot dun buy food lah, how to breed so many larvae at one go at home ? Will be filled with mosquitoes liao.

they breed in any water stagnant but best results is putrified water as they get food. Think they will cannibalise if shortage of food so clean water gives few larvaes but if you throw in some rotting plant parts.....hoooh....bloom.

I got 2 batches of nice free food. 4 days, nice goldfish hard alkaline green water.
1. Using a dark stainless steel cup open end. about 50 odds red red worms. Only 22 mosquitoes larva.
2. Using a guppy brand small transparent tank. less than 30 red worms.
low harvest. but sure clean water. a few dead drown small tiny mosquitoes (dunno is that flies or wat) and a larger female andes.
stopped after the harvest, too busy to take care of mosquitoes. hahahaha ... before the ENV knock on my door for breeding mosquitoes.
