General Summary
Patterned - Butterfly
- At least two colour bands
- Sharp contrast between banding colours - no bleeding effect
- Straight lines on bands - no jagged lines
- Outline of band on all fins forms an oval outline
- Ideally, equal banding on all the fins i.e. 50% banding of one colour and 50% banding of another colour on all the fins. If it has three bands on the fins, it should be 33% banding of one colour, 33% banding of a second colour and 33% of a third colour on all the fins. And so on...
Patterned - Marble
- Variegated fins without banding
- High contrast; 50/50 blend preferred
- Marbled effect in mixing of colours
Patterned - Multicolour
- Bettas with two or more colours that do not fit into any pattern category
- High contrast desirable
Patterned - Grizzled
- random flecking, spotting or peppering of iridescent colour over pastel or opaque. BOTH fins and body must show distinctly two shades of colour (any 1 iridescent colour + 1 opaque OR pastel colour base)
- 50/50 spread is ideal
