i noticed alot of known breeders use concrete tanks or clay jars as their grow out tanks & the tanks are placed OUTDOORS!!!
I want to give it a try...
but how do you maintain water quality? how do you keep it clean & free of dirt & debris?
i saw that there are NO FILTERS attached to the tanks/jars...
Can you please share your grow out methods using these items?

they will change water once or twice a week... i rear my fighters on clay jars... i will siphon the debris once every two days... and will change water once a week...

but siphoning wont be that accurate since jars are dark right? or do you also do full water changes?

i just siphon the bottom... just go one round around the jar... then siphon the centre part...

hi
if you are thinking of making new concrete tanks... do take note that new ones will make the water PH very high..maybe PH 8 or higher.
You will have to try to condition the tanks 1st before putting in your bettas
cheers

i was planning to buy clay pottery jars...the big pots for small trees...but i was thinking the maintainance would be the same or similar to concrete tanks
