Light? NOt very sure. When there's sunlight then there's light.hahha never purposely put light near them and they are doing well. Guess not that important.

I've read that bettas don't like being in direct sunlight. I try to keep my tanks in a room that gets plenty of natural light, but not direct sunlight (because of algal growth).

Bettas in direct sunlight appear to suffer from sunburn in my experience.

Their skin turns darker and peels.
