Following Dr Fred Chua's talk, I ve done my first experiment. the curled corners of 2 HMs were snipped with a gillette razor blade!..ops one of them bleeded[ whocares..ha!]:D

I ll see if the new fin growth continue to grow well or are still curled! ;) In fact one of them also had part of his dorsal trimmed, and the other had one of his ventral shortened. My only concern is that the fishes are a little large for such deeds[small fishes re-fin more quickly], so it could distort my experiment. [B)]

Oh havent. These few have failed the 'competitive' grade. So I catch the bugger and put him in a 'dry' jar. Let him jump for 2 to 3 mins until he run out of breathe. :D Hold him with a moist tissue. Snip! just like Peter and Guys [8D]

I mean how did the re-growth of the fins go? What would you advise those who are thinking of attempting the same procedure?

they regrow but depending on teh amt u cut off, they may not regrow fully in old fishes. The new growth also shows a diff colour tone....I only recomend to those who want to spawn their fishes.
