Well! Henry's interest in Bettas waned because of the drop in Betta interest throughout the world. He went into Louhans (and might be regretting it now). He had some good CTs in the past. Some he bred but others he bought from noted breeders in Indonesia.

yipe and I bet he is regretting every bit of it. Poor guy because the Louhan market in Jakarta is also in deep recession.

Hehe, it'll be good, cos many are not really into CT now

Yes that is why the CT standards in Indonesia has dropped because many of the breeders have hung up their socks.

another sad sad louhan story, let's hope these breeders dun knock their heads until like louhan can liao.
Anyway, phil, how about some secret in keeping ct ?
I guess over here, we are seeing mainly thinning of rays, bent or folded rays or even crumbling up. How's the Indo side doing to maintain their stocks ?

Ken, generally they rely on the elements of nature but perhaps we should start another topic for this and I will put in as much input as I can on conditions, water, maintenace etc. Lets call it raising CTs.

Now my query begins.. :)
I'm trying to pair up my Red CTM and Yellow CTF. Tried to spawn them the week before but failed. now trying again. It seems that the male is not building good nest for the spawning.. tried the last time to put other betta's bubbles into the spawning tank but my male just ignore.. did not seemed interested..
My first time breeding another pair was veri successful, the male build big nest and the spawning went on perfectly, now this attempt abit make me sianz....
any ideas or tricks??
The male is now in his spawning tank and he can see the female in another container.. I intend to leave them in view of each other till tonite then let the female in the spawning tank with a glass chimmny to protect her against the male..
Should i wait till the nest is ready then let the female go or should i just let her go and leave to fate?

You will need to condition the male first. Do get him in tip top shape b4 attempting to breed.

No stimulation? Put the female in a seperate container in the same tank and see if he blows his bubbles.

For me, i will take the male out, give me 1 or 2 days' of 5star treatment, and put in back into the breeding tank.
Another good way is to put 1 ketapang leaf into the tank if you have not. If you have already done that, put somemore concentrated ketapang leaf water into the breeding tank.

guess now the problem is that the male just refuses to blow the nest... damn sianz...

when the male refuses, it means he is not in the right condition or simply not in the mood. Its not a matter of character, you just need put a little attention to provide the right conditions....like...do you have a suitable nest holder for the bugger? Like a leaf or a styroform etc etc Another thing is, if you feel you have done your best, just simply leave them alone.

I've done breeding before so the setup is exactly the same as the previous one.. Used a small clay pot for the female to hide. Half-cut styrofoam cup, Black water. Conditioned the pair for a week liaoz....
guess like you said.. leave them alone and see how.. :)

Erh ... last time I also think of spawning red and yellow pair. Then a good young BCS member asked me a question. This question still in my mind and I will never forget that as it hit me hard.
So let me ask you ...
What do you really aim to get from a Red CTM and Yellow CTF ?
Why not get a red ctf and a yellow ctm ?

hmz.. i dunno also.. actually planning to start F2 of my Reds but someone suggested me to try red and yellow female.. coz will result more variations.. As of why is Red male and Yellow female......
I HAVE NO IDEA!!!!
so what did you tell him then?

HAH i got an answer liaoz..
Becoz my male looks nicer and have better finnage than the yellow male. Futher more, usually the male genes will be the more dominant factor rite?? so i intend to have more of it in my next spawn..
this reasoning logical or not.. I newbie in genetics

So Red x Yellow. Not workable? Will get Reds with yellow wash and vice versa?
Please advise?
