Hi members,

Below I will explain the new features and usage of our upgraded BCS Forum. All these will be usable once the site and forum is transfer to our new website and server on 13 Sep. 2002 Friday 8.30am.

As there are too many features, I will add them as and when I'm free to do so (hope you guys be a bit patience with me).

1. Subscription to Forum
This is one of the most useful feature as it allows you to subscribe to the forum. If you have subscribe to the forum, you will receive emails informing you whenever someone (excluding yourself) post a message in that particular categories or topic that you subscribed to.

Currently you will receive the email containing a link to the post but you will not be able to see the content of the post in your email. Just click on the link and it will bring you to the post in the forum.

How to subscribe;
On the right hand side of each Category heading like Events and Gatherings, you will see this icon http://www.bettaclub.org.sg/forum/icon_subscribe.gif. Just click it and you will be subscribe to all the topics in this category.

If you do not wish to subscribe to all the topics in this category, you may click the subscription icon at the right side of each topic to subscribe individually.

How to unsubscribe;
Click on the icon http://www.bettaclub.org.sg/forum/icon_unsubscribe.gif at the respective category or topics that you've subscribed at the right hand side.

How to check which you have subscribe;
At the top right hand side, click http://www.bettaclub.org.sg/forum/mysub.gif My Subsriptions to check it out.

2. Quick Reply

This feature is good for lazy ppl like me haha. When you click on a topic, you'll find the Quick Reply right at the bottom for you to post your reply to the thread.

As it's Quick Reply, you'll not be able to have text decoration like bold, color, underline, or similies. But it saves you one step by no need to click on the Reply To Topic or Reply With Quote.

3. Lost or Forgotten your Password

With the new forum, if you have forgotten your password - do not worry. Just click the link "Forgot your password?" at the top right hand near the Login.

3 simple steps are all you need to get your new password. You will be asked your Username and your email address, but not your forgotten password. You will then key in your new password.

Pls note that with the new forum, your password will not be shown and no one will know your password if you have forgotten it. So all you need is just to key in your new password and that's all.

4. Lost of Forgotten Username or email address
This will be the worst situation. In this case, you will have to email our Main Forum Administrator - Samuel Phan for assistance. He will be able to check your Username and email address but not your password.

5. Change of Username, Password and Email Address
To change your password and email address, just click "Profile" after you have Login.
- To change your password, just key in your new password.
- To change your Email Address, just key in your new email address over the old one. An email will be sent to you in your new email address to confirm changes.
- To change your Username, you need to ask the Main Forum Administrator - Samuel Phan to do it for you.

but why must we still key in the password for the forum after we have logged in? wouldnt removing this function prevent 'guest' from viewing (member give password to fren) and viewing for free?

Hi Kelvin,

Thank you for your query regarding the password for forum. I'm awared that if a member will to pass his/her forum password to another person, that person can view for free. As such, all password is confidential and we do not encourage one to reveal their password to anyone though we cannot prevent it.

Technically, I'll review the possibility to prevent this from happening every now and then. I can only try my best as I'm not IT trained on all this and I'm doing it by trial and error.
